Music

Connect music to your life.

Introduction should cover “why study this at Beloit”.

Students explore music in and out of the classroom. Bits & Pieces, Beloit's a cappella group, rehearses in the Hendrick... Music opportunities at Beloit serve all students—majors and non-majors, listeners, performers, scholars, risk-takers, and creators. Our offerings provide flexibility for students—even those taking a single course—to develop their passions in performance, composition, or topics in music history and culture.

So take lessons, join an ensemble, or find like-minded peers and make friends.

Next should cover all offerings, heading H2, “new-line” if image in previous.

Ensembles

Instruments, Storage, and Practice Spaces

The department offers instrument storage lockers, loan instruments for lessons or ensembles, and practice rooms in the Hendricks Center for the Arts. Students interested in these offerings should contact the PART Department Secretary.

Concerts

Students enjoying music in C-Haus during the 2023 Folk n Blues concert. On-campus, music ensembles and students perform concerts every semester.

Coughy Haus (C-Haus) has regular music entertainment throughout the year for students on the weekends, including both on-campus and off-campus groups.

Off-campus, other ensembles have regular concerts in the Beloit area, such as the Wisconsin Baroque Ensemble which offers at least one concert per season at Beloit College Eaton Chapel.

Otherwise, Beloit’s proximity to Madison, Rockford, Chicago, and Milwaukee means there are many opportunities to find music you want to hear.

Student Organizations

The Music Club promotes music education on-campus, provides a practice space for students, and coordinates student and non-student performances on and off-campus.

Entrepreneurship

Three students play drums, guitar, and piano in the Maple Tree Studio. Get involved with the Center for Entrepreneurship (CELEB) to put your skills and passions to work.

In particular, use the Maple Tree Studio to record and mix music after some training.

Community Outreach

Turtle Tunes students stand together with their instruments. Join Turtle Tunes and teach guitar, piano, or string instruments for credit at Todd Elementary, located within walking distance.

Or, lead interactive music activities with preschool children at Little Turtles’ Playhouse, a college-affiliated daycare adjacent to campus.

Student also can pursue off-campus performance opportunities and paid gigs.

Off-Campus Study
