Program Components
Joan Donovan, Weissberg Chair 2023-24
Dr. Joan Donovan is formerly the Research Director of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center on Media Politics and Public Policy, where she directed the Technology and Social Change Research Project. Her team researched media manipulation, disinformation, and adversarial media movements.
She was previously the Research Lead for Data & Society’s Media Manipulation Initiative, which mapped how interest groups, governments, political operatives, corporations, and others use the internet and media to disrupt social institutions.
Spring Break Immersion Trips. Funded student-led excursions focused on a critical issue and job shadowing.
Summer Grants. Funding for projects and internships to gain hands-on experience
Equity trainings. Workshops and training on inclusivity, equity, conflict transformation, and intercultural competence.
Weissberg Fellowship. Post-graduation grant for taking the next step toward a career in social justice and human rights.
Study Abroad Scholarships. Funding to support study abroad travel costs for students studying social justice and human rights.
SHE-CAN scholarship. Support for female students from post-conflict countries.
Incubation retreat. Annual retreat to explore the following year’s theme, connect to teaching and help plan the next year’s events.
Funding for campus events and programming. Bring a speaker to campus, or host an event.
Curriculum development. Opportunities to expand research and teaching around social justice, human rights and critical global issues.
Equity trainings. Supporting an inclusive and equitable campus community.
